In summer 2012 I worked as a summer trip guide for Rustic Pathways, a leading company in international student travel.

Rustic Pathways

I led 4 groups of fifteen high school students from the US, Canada, China, and Spain on two different programs in the DR. One program was a 2-week community service trip called Life in the Bateyes, which focused on community service projects on sugar cane plantations, and the other was a 1-week culture trip called Latin Beats, whose intent was to convey Dominican culture via community service, dance, and music.

Here is the link for the Dominican Republic programs planned for summer 2013:

RP Summer 2013

Obviously it was a rewarding summer; more rewarding and encouraging was seeing the cultural exchange and immense interest in community service projects.
