Granada, Nicaragua. Reason #6! El Dia de los Ninos…

Granada had a holiday while I was there– children’s day. Seriously? I love this place. Even Claro cell phone company came to the Parque Central to set up one of those bouncy castles and a climbing wall. The kids swarmed the place all day.

La Catedral looks pretty sweet right there. Imagine being one of the kids who lives in Granada and you are flipping around inside the bouncy castle and you casually take note of La Catedral out the bouncy castle window. Not bad. There’s so much colonial history right where these kids are growing up. They’re surrounded by it.

Even at Escuelita Yo Puedo where I was volunteering, we had juice and cake, and the kids danced for hours.

You really should see this area during the POET’S FESTIVAL. Wall to Wall vendors, Teams of different age groups in their dressed costumes dancing to their Boom Box music dancing along the entire length of the strip and then the Poets speaking at each stop, sometimes two or three speaking at each stop. A wonderful display of their culture and their love of spoken poetry.

I am envious that you got to see that! At any rate I plan on going back at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later!
