Isla Ometepe on Lake Nicaragua

Have had absolutely no time to write!

I at least wanted to share another picture with you from my Central America trip.

I took this picture on the hour-long ferry boat ride across Lago de Nicaragua out to Isla Ometepe, the home of the two famous volcanoes Concepcion and Maderas. I hiked to the top of Maderas– more on that later.

If you’re ever going through Nicaragua, it’s quite possible (or rather, probable) you’ll stop over in Granada on Lake Nicaragua. You get a one hour (give or take) bus ride to Rivas, then a five minute taxi ride to the ferries out in San Jorge.

For whatever reason, I loved how this picture came out. It may not even be this dude’s own motorcycle, but with active Volcan Concepcion, the bike, and the guy who is clearly too cool for school, I like the shot.

Yes. it is a ‘cool’ picture. The volcano looks like the ones’ you always pictured, coned shape with a bit of smoke escaping from the top (no smoke from this one except a couple clouds). I believe the dude was thinking “Boy, wonder why the crew didn’t do the “In Case of an Emergency” bit!”

    Hey Bill ~

Haha! I never considered our evacuation plan if the volcano were to suddenly erupt! Good thinking on your part.

Ran across your blog and enjoyed reading your posts of Nicaragua. I live on Ometepe Island. It is a fabulous country.
